Three wins and two losses: that was the tally for the Azzurri Tuesday at Wimbledon. Flavio Cobolli won on debut against Australia's Hijikata in a match that ended in the fourth set after nearly three hours of play.
Lorenzo Musetti and Luciano Darderi qualified and will compete in the second round: the Carrarese player overcame France's Lestienne 3-1 with the scores of 6-4, 6-7, 2-6, 2-6, while the Italo-Argentinean bowed out in the fifth set to Britain's Choinski after three and a half hours of play (7-5, 4-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2).
On the other hand, Luca Nardi, defeated in three sets by Argentina's Etcheverry, and Mattia Bellucci, who came close to defeating Ben Shelton and was defeated only in the fifth set with the scores of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6 in a match that lasted three and a half hours and was suspended twice.
