Lando Norris in a McLaren è was the fastest in the first hour of free practice of the British Grand Prix at the historic Silverstone circuit, where 74 years ago, when it had a very different layout than today, the Formula 1 world championship was born.

Norris, one of the home favorites, lapped in 1’27”420 precdendo by 134 thousandths the surprising Lance Strol in the Aston Martin. Third at 211 thousandths is the’other McLaren, that of Oscar Piastri. Fourth at 309 thousandths the Red Bull of world champion Max Verstappen.

Fifth the first Mercedes, that of George Russell, seventh that of Lewis Hamilton, between them the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso. The two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are eighth at 483 thousandths and ninth at 505 thousandths.
