Wimbledon, Iga Swiatek eliminated by Yulia Putintseva
It è not a surprise by any means given her poor aptitude for’grass, a surface on which she has never won a tournament, but Polish world No. 1 Iga Swiatek è was eliminated in the third round of Wimbledon women’s singles.
Beating her, with a score of 3-6 6-1 6-2 in an hour and 59 minutes of play è was Yulia Putintseva, a native of Moscow but who has been defending the colors of Kazakhstan for many years now and currently è number 35 in the world. Thus fades once again the dream of the Championships for Iga, who as her best result at Church Road has the quarterfinals of last year.
È also ended up out of the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who played in the London Slam the last two finals losing them and who this year è in serious crisis of results. Today è she was beaten 6-1 7-6 by Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
Among other results, overwhelming victory for the’other Russian-Kazakh Elena Rybakina, Wimbledon champion two years ago, who gave up only one game, 6-0 6-1, to Danish veteran Caroline Wozniacki, former world No. 1.
