At Troyes wins Anthony Turgis

It's Anthony Turgis the winner of the ninth stage of the Tour de France 2024, a 199-kilometer stage with start and finish in Troyes, in the department of l'Aube, characterized by several dirt sections during which there were several attacks and counter-attacks even by the men in the rankings.

Turgis, the third Frenchman to win a stage at the Grande Boucle this year (after Romain Bardet and Kevin Vauquelin), è imposed himself ahead of Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) and Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech) in a tight sprint. Little glory for the Italian colors: first of the day è Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek), 24th.

He retains the yellow jersey of general classification leader Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates): the Slovenian tried several times to attack on the gravel, as did his closest rival in the general classification, Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step). Between the two there remains a 33-second gap in the standings.

Nothing changes as far as the other jerseys are concerned: in green (points classification) there'è the Eritrean Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty, winner on Saturday in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises; the polka-dot jersey of best climber è prerogative of Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno X-Mobility), while the white jersey of best young rider è of Remco Evenepoel. Monday is a day of rest, resuming Tuesday with the stage from Orleans to Saint-Amand-Montrond, a fraction dedicated to sprinters.
