Liane Lippert wins in Chieti, Elisa Longo Borghini retains pink jersey
Giro d'Italia Women: Liane Lippert wins sixth stage, Longo Borghini still in pink
Liane Lippert won the sixth stage of the Giro d'Italia Women, the 159-kilometer San Benedetto del Tronto-Chieti San Benedetto del Tronto-Chieti. In second and third place were Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health) and Erica Magnaldi (UAE Team ADQ), respectively. The Movistar Team rider completed today’s course in 4h16'21" at an average of 37.214 km/h.
Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl – Trek) remains in the overall leader’s Maglia Rosa ahead of Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx – Protime) and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ – Suez), 3" and 38" respectively.
"It's a victory of immense value also because'the beginning of Giro è was very complicated for me. I started savoring it from the moment I entered the breakaway, but at the same time I was telling myself to stay focused.
