Gian Piero Gasperini, backstory on Napoli. And thanks Borriello
The paoles of Gian Piero Gasperini
Gian Piero Gasperini gave a lengthy interview to Corriere dello Sport in which he discussed a number of topics, including a backstory on the failed move to Napoli: "I thought about it, sì. There were some moments of the season when I believed it was time to leave Atalanta. But I wanted to leave it well, without controversy, without a disappointment. We won and in the end Bergamo, its people and all that it brings prevailed. In Naples now there’è Conte, the fans cannot feel sorrow".
He then revealed who è was decisive in the negotiation that brought Nicolò Zaniolo to Atalanta: "È it was he who bet on us. I like him as a profile. Do you want to know how it went? One day Borriello called and said: 'Coach, I have a player who wants to come to you, a strong one, a beast'. And I said: Marco, who's he? 'Zaniolo'. Good guy, I like him. I talked about it with D’Amico, then with Percassi, this guy interests me, and è arrived".
"Atalanta can’t afford millionaire purchases – added the Nerazzurri coach -. And then he seizes opportunities. Scamacca and De Ketelaere grown? Partially (laughs). But they were only in their first year".
"What kind of coach am I? I am a copycat. I observe, I take notes, then maybe I don’t repeat, but I pay attention to everything and everyone. I can’t stand abuse, injustice. I am undiplomatic. After all I had to send already … Things forò have improved, I have vaccinated myself. The referees have gotten to know me, they relate differently. A few years ago there were too many things, however I have to admit that their è became an impossible job, the fault of the rules that too often are not è clear".
"On contacts and hand fouls we no longer understand; nothing. Too many dissimilar interpretations and considerable diversitiesà between the national and international field. Two different sports are played in Serie A and in the cups. Take the European, the Var è intervened very few times, while here it referees often. Var decisions should be regulated once and for all" concluded Gasperini.
