Tennis, Us Open: blue disappointment, only Elisabetta Cocciaretto is saved
Cocciaretto only promoted
The last day of the Us Open qualifying draw was a disaster for Italian tennis players. No one, in fact, was able to bring home the victory and thus gain access to the main draw. The only good news came from Elisabetta Cocciaretto, who managed to hit the main draw, overcoming American tennis player Whitney Osuigwe in two sets with a score of 7-6 6-2.
Fairly straightforward defeats were those involving Riccardo Bonadio, Matteo Arnaldi and Andreas Seppi. More hard-fought were the matches of Raul Brancaccio, Flavio Cobolli and Franco Agamenone, who succumbed only in the third and decisive set. The biggest regret, however, surely concerns Francesco Maestrelli, defeated by the Portuguese Nuno Boerges, at the end of a real battle that lasted more than three hours of play, decided only by the tiebreak of the last partial. 4-6 7-6 7-6 in favor of the Portuguese, with the Italian tennis player having the regret of having served for the match in the decisive set.
