F1, Leclerc-Verstappen penalty: here’s who will start in front
Here’s who, between Leclerc and Verstappen, will start ahead at Spa
Many drivers have run into penalties ahead of the Spa Grand Prix. Among them are the two title contenders, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.
In the race, however, regardless of the outcome of Saturday afternoon’s qualifying, the Monegasque will start ahead of his Dutch rival. This is because Ferrari has managed to dose penalties, not letting Leclerc exceed 15 grid positions. The Red Bull driver, on the other hand, as reported by The-Race.com, will start from the back of the grid, according to official FIA documents.
The Scuderia di Maranello driver will therefore play for 15th position with Alfa Romeo’s Finn Valtteri Bottas and Haas’ German Mick Schumacher. Reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, will vie for the penultimate row with McLaren’s Briton, Lando Norris and Alpine’s Frenchman, Esteban Ocon.
