F1, mistakes in Ferrari? Mattia Binotto goes down flat

Some growth to highlight, some choices at the wall to make the necessary clarifications about.

Mattia Binotto returned to talk about Ferrari’s parabola over the past two and a half years, from the 2020 single-seater systematically in the second half of the standings, to the one from a year ago that returned to inhabit the podium to the one in the current championship, back to victory but with so many blurred opportunities. And on Saturday on the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix, he wanted to take stock of the situation of Carlos Sainz and especially Charles Leclerc.

“Our goal was to be competitive again, because in 2020 we were naked. Now we are in a suit and tie,” Binotto said, as quoted in ‘Repubblica.’ “This year we have already collected 8 pole positions out of 13, I have been in Ferrari for 27 years and it had never happened. And we hadn’t been this strong for 21 years anyway.”

Binotto then dwelt on the points the Cavallino has littered on the road, starting in particular with the last Grand Prix before the stop, with Charles Leclerc again penalized by strategies. “In Hungary we didn’t make any mistakes. We just made a decision, a choice that didn’t work. But more than strategies our problem is reliability, because we had little time to take care of it. However, everyone makes mistakes, however the criticism of us is greater. Because Ferrari is like the national team,” noted the Red team principal.
