Jasmine Paolini explains the turnaround and identifies the next goal
Jasmine Paolini increasingly aware of her own means
Monday, July 15 è a day to remember for Jasmine Paolini: just back from her second consecutive final in a Grand Slam tournament, the 1996 class athlete è entered, for the first time in her career, the Top 5 of the WTA world ranking, a result that mitigates the disappointment experienced in the last act of the Wimbledon tournament, with the defeat suffered by Barbora Krejcikova.
Interviewed by 'Vogue Italia', the Castelnuovo di Garfagnana-born tennis player says she is becoming increasingly aware of her own means and identified the work done with her coach, Renzo Furlan, as the reason behind the big turnaround in her career. "To get to these results there'è behind continuous work both technical and physical" explained the number one among Italians.
"The most important thing è is to give continuity to the program with the athletic trainer, even during tournaments. I try to carry it with me as much as possible because é I think it’s a job that has to be done every day. And of course è the technical part is also fundamental: in addition to my coach (Renzo Furlan, ed.) Danilo Pizzorno, who è a video analyst, also gives me a hand. All together, as a team, we therefore try every day to add one brick at a time, with the goal of improving all aspects" he added.
"In the past,” Paolini further explained, “I have worked with psychologists, and the mental one è an aspect that I definitely want to resume as soon as possible because I think it is very important. Above all, I am convinced that the fact of knowing each other better in my opinion helps a lot to improve the performance field".
The next big goal è that at Five Circles: Jasmine Paolini will tryà to win a medal in the women’s tournament in Paris 2024, on the same courts as Roland Garros (where she è surrendered only in the final to Iga Swiatek’s clay-court overpower): "(The Olympic Games mean) So much. I still remember when as a child my father made me watch athletics on TV: this è the first image that comes to my mind when I think of the Olympics. When I was at the opening ceremony of Tokyo 2020 in 2021, è it was a very emotional moment, a dream come true: the athlete on TV was me" he concluded.
