Hurkacz doesn't make it: Jannik Sinner's friend must forgo Olympics
No Olympics for Hubert Hurkacz: the Polish world No. 7 tennis player è forced to forfeit due to a physical problem. Hurkacz, a great friend of Jannik Sinner, has not yet recovered from the knee injury he suffered at Wimbledon during the match against Arthur Fils.
The Polish tennis player is recovering and è undergoing rehabilitation, but he does not want to take any risks as the season continues and has decided not to anticipate his return to the court.
Hurkacz made his decision official with a note on Instagram. Poland thus entrusts WTA number one Iga Swiatek with its medal hopes.
"Hello everyone, thank you for the wonderful messages you have sent me. Your support means a lot to me. My rehabilitation is continuing well and I am making great progress. However, together with my team we have decided that I will not take part in the Paris 2024 Olympics. It’s been a very painful decision because’ve always dreamed of representing Poland at the Olympics and winning a medal, but unfortunately my health this year does not allow me to do so. Of course I will watch’the event and tifer’for my compatriots, wishing them to win as many medals as possible".
