Inter, Josep Martinez introduces himself
"I grew up with the myth of Cañizares and Casillas. In soccer è determination" is fundamental. Word of Josep Martínez , the protagonist of "Welcome Home", the new series of unreleased interviews, powered by Betsson Sport, Inter's Main Shirt Sponsor, and carried out by the team of the Champions of Italy, to present fans with the new entries for the 2024-2025 season. Born in 1998, he started his football career at the age of 5 in Alzira and has not stopped since then.
Besides soccer, però he has many other sports passions, including tennis, padel, MotoGP and Formula 1, but not only: "If I had not become a soccer player,” Martinez reveals, “I would be a physical therapist for a soccer team. My favorite player when I was growing up? Definitely è it was José Santiago Cañizares, the incredible goalkeeper of Valencia. Later, my myth è became Iker Casillas, whom I always admired very much".
Talking about his path, which began thanks to his father who passed on to him his passion for soccer, Martínez considers his experience at Barcelona as a fundamental step: "Two years in which I was able to learn so much, and not only as a professional; great values were transmitted to me. È it was one of the most significant moments of my career". And è it was precisely at Barcelona that he met one of the fundamental figures in his training path: his first coach, when he played for the blaugrana, the one who showed him how to become a true professional.
"The most important teaching he received?" Josep repeats, smiling. "Good question. When I was 20 years old and playing for Las Palmas, an injury that took me out of the game for a few months made me realize that it è important not to get distracted by the 'noise' of people off the field, you have to know how to go your own way". On the evolution of the goalkeeper role, the player considers himself lucky: "I have always been in clubs where the modern goalkeeper model was the main one, and this has kept me going and growing more and more".
Growth that è happened steadily and that to date has earned him the adjective of "intuitive" between the goal posts: it is no coincidence that he is considered a very talented footballer, always ready and responsive. Josep, who considers himself brave, but also very stubborn, also explains how crucial locker room life is for him: "Important" he confirms to the microphones of Betsson Sport.
"Teammates are really the ones who help you grow and teach you values that will stay with you forever. I learned that in soccer, determination matters more than talent. Talent è important to have the opportunity&39;to start your career, but to maintain your position you need determination and dedication”, concluded Martinez.
