Simona Quadarella comments this way, with RaiSport, on her fourth place in the 800 freestyle at the Paris Olympics.

"I believed in it until the 600. Not è came the medal but an Italian record. This confirms to me that in the 1500 I could have done better but that’s OK;. Not è came the medal are two fourth places but I am happy soì. I never gave up. I am happy that I reacted, that I did not give up and this will be useful for the future".

"I had a lot of support. I had a flood of messages of encouragement: my family, my boyfriend, my friends. My coach sent me a message that made me cry with emotion and gave me the energy to do these 800", concludes the Italian swimmer.

The 25-year-old from Rome swam in 8’14”55. The’goldè went to the U.S. Katie Ledecky, triumphant in 8’11”04 winner for the fourth consecutive time on this stanza and, with 9 golds, the most successful five-ring swimmer ever. Silver to Australia’s Ariarne Titmus in 8’12”29, bronze to the’other U.S. Paige Madden in 8’13”00.
