Jannik Sinner reveals a backstory on the Olympics

After his comfortable debut victory with Borna Coric at the Montreal Masters 1000, Jannik Sinner, speaking at a press conference, came back on his forfeit to the Paris 2024 Olympics: "I had said since the beginning of the year that my biggest goal for 2024 was the Olympics" but with only a few days to go I was not even able to get out of bed".

"I know how I felt, what people think or say doesn’t matter much to me, frankly,” added the world number one. “Talking from the outside è one thing, seeing situations inside è another".

"I don&#39t look at social anymore, it makes me feel good. Some things I still read but I don’t really care, around me I have people I trust and that’s what matters to me. I understand people’s reaction but by now è that’s how it is, è no use thinking about it any more" continued the South Tyrolean.

Finally, Sinner praised Italian tennis: "We are a good team and we are lucky that there are so many tournaments in Italy that give everyone the opportunity to grow. Then we have the Finals, Davis, many good facilities, fantastic coaches and a very good movement in general. Even the Olympics have shown this, there are so many strong young people and this can only be good".
