Us Open: Matteo Arnaldi reveals his goal
Us Open, Matteo Arnaldi sets the goal
Matteo Arnaldi spoke to SuperTennis microphones on the eve of his US Open debut, in which he will be seeded for the first time: "New York è a special competition, I have been playing well since junior. Last year I had one of my best tournaments. I am training well, I am someone who always works hard, I give 100% every day and for me è the certainty that I am doing the best I can. And with me the whole team. We just need to fix the last few things but we are ready for Tuesday.
So the Ligurian unveiled his goal: "There's a quarterfinal Slam to be won, we are trying to work for that. I came close twice (this year at Roland Garros, eliminated in the round of 16 by Stefanos Tsitsipas, and last year at Flushing Meadows defeated by Carlos Alcaraz). In matches three out of five I do well, è a big goal but for my head doable".
On the brilliant moment that Italian tennis is living: "We are living a special period for tennis in Italy. Lorenzo Musetti won bronze at the Olympics, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini won gold, the girls last year made it to the final of Billie Jean King Cup".
"People in Italy are learning to appreciate our sport more, they watch it more. We feel more and moreù support, we see more and moreù fans wherever we go to play, even in Australia or here in New York" concluded Arnaldi.
