Lydia Ko closes out a dream August
An August Dream
Beginning with gold in Paris, Lydia Ko’s dream month of August ends with a new triumph in a Major, in Scotland, at the AIG Women's Open. At the end of "moving day", the New Zealander was just off the podium, but she started her fourth round with a long putt for birdie on hole number 4.
Solid until hole 9, she then accelerated on her return, adding three more birdies to her card (with only one bogey), thanks largely to two perfectly placed approaches on the greens of holes 10 and 18.
This last birdie, achieved right on the final hole, allowed her to finish with a score of 69 and, more importantly, to climb alone to the top of the leaderboard with a total of -7, without ever being caught.
With this trophy, the 27-year-old wins her 21st victory on the LPGA Tour and her third Major (her first since 2016), just a few weeks after her Olympic title in France.
