Jannik Sinner took revenge over Ben Shelton in the 2024 edition of the Shanghai Masters 1000. The South Tyrolean, in fact, defeated the American tennis player in two sets with a score of 6-4 7-6, pulling out the pass for the quarterfinals and redeeming the previous year's elimination against the US player.

First to break the balance in the first set è the world number one, who managed to be perfect in response and took advantage of a Shelton error to place the decisive break in the ninth game. At that point, the South Tyrolean closed out the partial 6-4 thanks to a service break.

In the second set, however, the tie-break situation held until the tie-break, where Sinner raised the level and dominated his opponent with a peremptory 7-1.
