Jannik Sinner, the countdown is coming to an end
Jannik Sinner, anticipation grows for ATP Finals
There are only two days to go until the draw for the rounds of the 2024 edition of the ATP Finals, the "tournament of champions" which will be hosted by the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy, from Nov. 10-17. The attention of Italian fans, inevitably, è all for Jannik Sinner, world No. 1 and last year’s finalist: the path to what would be another great success, forò, è all but easy.
In addition to the South Tyrolean, Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz are already certain of participation, two other names will be certain at the conclusion of the ATP tournament in Metz, while on Novak Djokovic, winner of the 2023 edition and these days struggling with some physical problems, there are more doubts than certainties.
In the group stage, which will promote for each grouping of four the top two finishers, Sinner could have to deal with a round of iron with friend-rival Alcaraz and, if present, Djokovic himself. If the Spaniard is instead drawn in Zverev’s group (second in the Race and thus unable to meet Sinner) it will be Medvedev who will be one of the San Candido native’s opponents.
Currently, in the Race, it is Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud and Alex de Minaur who occupy positions 6 to 8. Just behind them is'è Andrey Rublev, who would enter the eight with a major result in Metz or with Nole dropping out. All that remains is to wait for the official announcement of the eight names close to the draw, which will take place on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 12 noon.
