Jannik Sinner è was honored at the Inalpi Arena in Turin for finishing the season as world number one in the ATP rankings. The South Tyrolean received the world number one trophy from Boris Becker and ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi.
"What can I say, there are no words to describe the excitement – admitted the azure during the award ceremony -. There's no place more beautiful, Turin has always been a special city for me. I made my Davis Cup debut here, thank you for the support".
"The n°1 è an exclusive club, I am happy to have ended the year in the lead. When I was young I would never have thought, but I worked so hard for it. I am lucky to have my team, which loves me" concluded Sinner.
The South Tyrolean succeeded Novak Djokovic, who closed 2023 as world number one. Sinner è the first Italian in history to reach this milestone: in 2024 the Italian won two Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open and Us Open), three Masters 1000s (Miami, Cincinnati and Shanghai) and two ATP 500s (Rotterdam and Halle).
