Italbasket è awaited by a double commitment with Iceland to try to close the EuroBasket 2025 qualification discourse definitively. Head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco has selected 23 players ahead of the second 'window' scheduled for Nov. 18-25.
The blue roster, never so luid and interchangeable, will see 15 players for the gathering at the Centro di Preparazione Olimpica dell’Acqua Acetosa on Monday, Nov. 18, and for the match in Reykjavik on Friday, Nov. 22 (8:30 p.m. Italian time, live on DAZN, Sky Sport Uno and Arena).
As of Nov. 23, the technical staff will also have the opportunity to summon some of the 8 available athletes from Euroleague clubs, including captain Nic Melli who has already confirmed his presence for the Reggio Emilia game on Monday, Nov. 25 (8 pm.30, live on DAZN, Sky Sport Arena). Diego Flaccadori and Giordano Bortolani will join the team on Tuesdayì Nov. 19.

Recent history teaches us that Iceland, as well as many other national teams, is a formation not to be underestimated and capable of putting us in difficulty. I am happy to be able to see, especially in the first part of the gathering, players I have never met or saw little of last summer: è a responsibilityà to give space to those who deserve it, which I feel very much".
"In the second part of the gathering the roster available could vary and this è also an issue we will have to deal with. The situation, given the simultaneity of international calendars, is notè homogeneous and therefore we will not be able to have with us all the players we would have liked. I hope that the confrontations can continue in a positive way so as to arrive at a final shared solution for the good of the whole movement" concluded Pozzecco.
After the February victories against Turkey at home and Hungary on the road, the Azzurri are looking for another encore to file for European qualification’before even playing the last two February games (Turkey away and Hungary at home).
