Patrick Vieira does not hide regret: “Hard to accept”
Patrick Vieira does not hide regret
Patrick Vieira, Genoa’s new coach, commented on the mocking draw with Cagliari (2-2) in a press conference: "The atmosphere è was exciting. I è liked the atmosphere that was in the stadium. From the point of view of the game we played a good game, we have some things to improve. I è felt sorry for the guys because we deserved to win this game because we were the stronger team in the second half. Soì è soccer, è difficult to accept the second penalty".
"I am sorry that we did not win this game,” added the French coach. “The boys did a proud race in competing with the opponent. I saw the boys focused and with the desire to do well. Afterwards with the work we will do every day we will be more solid as a team".
Vieira didn't really like the referee's decision to award the second penalty to Cagliari but he is left with many doubts about the first one as well: "With the respect I have for the referee, I think he was wrong about the second penalty. These two decisions really bother me. You have to ask the players to play without their arms. I don't agree with the referee's explanations so let's put that aside. The only thing we can control è collective performance. And from this point of view I am satisfied".
"The goal è to improve as a team. Today we had an interesting match in possession, we found the midfielders between the lines creating dangerous situations for the opponent. We can score more goals, we made some bad choices but what I saw è very positive for the rest of the championship" concluded the new coach of the Grifone.
