Nicola Pietrangeli, 91, è accidentally fell at home and è was admitted to the UOC of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Policlinico Gemelli in Rome.
The former Davis Cup champion and captain suffered a periprosthetic fracture in his right hip and, as Adnkronos has learned, è underwent delicate surgery to reduce and synthesize the fracture.
He was operated on by Professor Giulio Maccauro, full professor of Diseases of the Locomotor Apparatus at the Catholic University and director of the UOC of Orthopaedics and Traumatology.
The’surgery’was perfectly successful and the Italian tennis legend has already begun the post-surgery course, which includes a stay of a few days in the Orthopaedics and Traumatology department and subsequent rehabilitation.
According to Gemelli sources, Pietrangeli is doing well, and confirming this is the fact that he has already discussed with staff doctors the qualities of Italian tennis players, from Jannik Sinner to Matteo Berrettini.
