Mikaela Shiffrin is back on skis.
Mikaela Shiffrin è back on skis
U.S. champion Mikaela Shiffrin è returned to putting on skis after a racing accident in Killington last late November and a long period of hospitalization. È it was the athlete herself who made this known on social media saying she "had a great time".
Still nothing is known, however, about the timing of her return to competition. The next big event is the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, which open in early February. Shiffrin has already won 14 rainbow medals in her career, including seven world titles, and is the winningest ski athlete ever with 99 World Cup victories.
Mikaela Shiffrin will turn 30 next March 15. She has won five overall World Cups so far, and this winter she had started with two slalom victories, bidding to equal the six overall crystal balls won by Annemarie Proell, which is an all-time record.
In the Killingron giant è fell in the final part of the second run when she was about ten gates away from her 100th World Cup victory. Instead she è got a large gash in her abdomen that has kept her off the snow for more than a month and is jeopardizing her season.
