Ferrer excited about Alcaraz’s presence

Davis Cup director David Ferrer, on the occasion of a promotional event for Lexus, the tournament’s sponsor, commented on the presence of Carlos Alcaraz: “It is fortunate that after winning the US Open, his first Grand Slam, and reaching number one, he is now with us in the Davis Cup. That says a lot about him and the desire he has to play this competition.”

On the physical condition of the new world number one, the former Spanish tennis player clarified, “It’s a matter for the captain. He came in right after finishing, he took a plane and with the jet lag he was a little tired, but hopefully he will recover to be able to play.”

Finally, a comment on Spain’s group, placed in Group B with Canada, South Korea and Serbia: “Yesterday we saw that all the matches were very balanced, that there is no clear favorite, although Spain, from my point of view, has better players, but in the Davis Cup everything is very balanced.”
