Sinner – Cerundolo 7-5 1-6 6-3 in the second Davis Cup match of the day

After learning that Argentina would replace top-ranked Diego Schwartzman with Francisco Cerundolo for the second singles match of the day, many thought that Jannik Sinner would have an easy time of it, considering the huge difference in rankings.

Instead, the match was a real battle, with the Azure prevailing only in the third set after turning out the lights in the second set, lost 1-6.

In the first set, Sinner placed the break in the 11th game and then closed with serve 7-5. In the next partial, a double break by Cerundolo sent the Argentine flying, dragging the match to the third.

Here the determination and the head of the South Tyrolean came out, who placed the break in the sixth game, then ended on 6-3 not without some suffering: in an endless ninth game, in which Sinner also had five match points before closing, Cerundolo had two break points to come back. But the Azzurro did not let him. Italy flies to the quarterfinals, which will be played in Malaga.
