Virtus Bologna makes Euroderby its own and condemns Olimpia Milano

Bitter-tasting defeat for Olimpia Milano, which not only came out defeated by the Euroderby with Virtus Bologna, but also saw the dream of grabbing the play-in zone fade away. At the Segafredo Arena, in fact, the Black Vu imposed themselves with a peremptory 90-70, after a game dominated from start to finish.
In the first quarter there were only the Felsinians on the court, with the Red Shoes scoring only two points in the first six minutes of the game. The Black Vu, for their part, dragged by Clyburn fly away in the scoring, ending the partial period with a 22-9 lead.
The Red Shoes are the only ones to score.
In the second quarter, it takes Shenghelia to contain the comeback of Milan, which arrives at the long break down 44-29.
In the third quarter, comes the cold shower for the meneghini, who lose Shields to a groin injury. Without their point guard, the team coached by Ettore Messina crumbled further, reaching -23 at the end of the third quarter.
The menegini were unable to win.
In the last period, it is just a formality for Ivanovic’s team to manage the lead until the final buzzer.
“We played a complete game, on defense and offense, played with aggressiveness and clear ideas. Milan is a great team, today was not their best version, sometimes it happens as it did to us in Belgrade. We all believe in ourselves and the next game will have to be played even better than this one” these are the warm statements of Virtus Bologna head coach Dusko Ivanovic.
“A really difficult game for us, we started with handicaps due to absences. They were aggressive in all aspects, the first quarter was decisive. We then lost Shields in the second half. The first quarter we could and should have played it better than we did, the first quintet had to direct the game. It has been a season of ups and downs winning big games and others badly, we were never complete but we had a good time. Playing so many minutes with Leday and Mirotic is not addressable for the whole season, we have to figure out what to do in view of the Italian championship” these, instead, the statements of Ettore Messina.
