Intervening at the official F1 channels, Mercedes driver George Russell, among other topics, analyzed his third-place finish in FP2 at the Bahrain GP and opened up about his own ambitions ahead of the weekend.

“We expected McLaren to be a step ahead here and they were. We have a good advantage in the middle sector, where the tires get hot, so we know we have some’ work to do, but I think we will be able to fight for the top positions” began the British driver.

“I think the Ferraris have a lot of potential in the dry lap, as they had a bit of a negative sector today, but I am convinced that it will be a close fight between us, the Ferraris and Max Verstappen, although honestly you never know how it will really go. I am absolutely convinced that, unlike the last three races, this one will not be dominated by qualifying, but by race pace and tire degradation. Obviously I will be important to do well in qualifying, but it is in the race that we will have to give it our all” added George Russell.
