Novak Djokovic praises Carlos Alcaraz: “It is incredible what he has achieved.”
Nole also extols Alcaraz
Novak Djokovic, competing in the Laver Cup this weekend, spoke at his tournament press conference about the new world number one, Carlos Alcaraz, as well as Roger Federer’s retirement.
In particular, the winner of 21 Grand Slam events wanted to congratulate the Murcian tennis player on winning the Us Open-which the Serb was unable to attend because he was not vaccinated-“It’s sad that he couldn’t play, but it’s a decision I made and I have to accept the consequences. I can only congratulate Alcaraz for winning the US Open. It is incredible what he has accomplished. He is a great addition to our sport. We cannot talk about him as the future, because he is already the present.”
Inevitable then was a comment on the farewell to tennis of the Master, Roger Federer: “When he said it would be his last match, for me it was a joy to be on the team, because it would be the last time we would all be together. It is a privilege to be here. I am very grateful to have been part of this era. Roger’s legacy will live on forever.”
