Lorenzo Musetti warns Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

If Jannik Sinner was cautious about it in press conference, without talking about any particular goals or ambitions for the Internazionali d’Italia after the long stop for the Clostebol case, the same cannot be said for his fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti, who on the eve of the start of the tournament in the capital issued a challenge precisely to his rival from Alto Adige and the other top athletes on the circuit.
“Having arrived at this point my mentality, not only on clay where I can express my tennis at its best, is to win the tournament. It is not disrespect to others, because you can very well lose in the first round. It is that confidence and trust in my game has increased”.
Musetti never made it past the round of 16 in Rome but now feels he is in the best moment of his career: “I am here to keep the moment alive. The top ten was a goal but I remained the same person. Reaching, at the 1000 level, a final between high lows and a semifinal without losing a set was confirmation of my current level”.
Musetti puts the next step in his sights: “I think I made a quantum leap as continuity and consistency. After a really bad start to 2024, I got my hands dirty and came back to play two Challengers, Cagliari and Turin, where although I didn’t play my best I made it to the bottom. I found myself again. And at the Olympics I changed gear”.
