In the first round of the men’s singles at Roland Garros, nice win for Matto Gigante, world number 167, who in a match between two tennis players from the qualifiers dominated with a score of 6-4 6-2 6-0 the Lebanese number 221 Benjamin Hassan.

Only the first set was quite mvimented: Gigante, making his overall debut in the main draw in Paris, from 2-2 went ahead 5-2 with a double break, however, he had one of the two break leads recovered by missing a set point, on 5-3 he missed two more set points but finally on 5-4 he held serve at zero.

The 23-year-old from Rome misses two break points already in the first game of the second set but in the third he breaks Hassan’s serve, he also has two double break points at 4-1 but the second break comes at 4-2 and shortly afterwards the second set is also in the bag.

The third set is a monologue of Gigante, who has to save only one break point in the second game but from 2-0 in his favor 30-15 service Hassan wins the last 15 points of the match and will now face the winner between Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas.
