Three weeks from the start of the women&#8217s European basketball championships, Italy celebrated a nice success in a friendly match against Greece: in Inca, Spain (where the local national team, which will meet the Azzurre on Sunday, is also present), the team coached by Andrea Capobianco prevailed with a final score of 65-52, reacting well to an ugly second quarter with a 36-28 partial after the long interval.

“Match that confirms our growth – said the blue coach -, even today we accused an empty passage in the second quarter but then the girls were good to resume playing our basketball after halftime: our strength can only be defense, we have to recompose ourselves in our half-court when on offense we miss so many shots even easy ones, as happened to us today”.

“This is the step forward that I ask of a group that doesn–t spare itself, added Capobianco.”

Overall, I am satisfied with the attitude of the girls, who wanted this victory and got it with merit. I am also happy with the debut of Eleonora Villa, even though she did not score I liked her personality in offense and defense”.

Italy will play four more friendlies: on June 1 against Spain again in Inca, on the 10th and 11th against the Czech Republic in Brno and on the 13th in Castenaso against Montenegro (in the latter case it will be a “scrimmage” behind closed doors). On the 18th the European Championship adventure will begin: the Azzurre are placed in Group B (with games in Bologna) with Serbia, Slovenia and Lithuania.
