Italy defeated Brazil in the last match of the first week of the Women&#8217s Volleyball Nations League. The Olympic champions prevailed 3-0 at the Maracanazinho (25-22, 25-28, 29-27), earning their fourth win in as many matches.

Julio Velasco’s team has beaten the United States, Germany, South Korea, and today Brazil with a 12-2 count of sets and eleven points overall. They are now scheduled to return to Italy to prepare for the second week of the tournament, in Canada.

“We bring home a great match, we held our own some Brazil tried to come back and knew how to handle the different moments that there were – said Velasco -. Beyond the success this is an important experience for the team because this kind of suffering can only do us good in view of the future”.

“Winning here is never easy and, although Brazil was missing a couple of important players, in terms of the finals it can be really worth a lot. And winning in this arena is always special: playing with this cheering, warm, but fair, gives unique emotions. In the final of the third set there’was a hellhole and this I think is an incredible memory that we will carry forever”.
