F1, Fernando Alonso outspoken about Ferrari
Fernando Alonso outspoken about Ferrari
Ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, which could see Max Verstappen graduate as world champion, Fernando Alonso put it this way, “Would a second title make Verstappen great? I think so. He still has many years ahead of him, but I wish him more success than I had. I was 26 years old with these statistics and I still have them at 40!” the Spaniard joked.
Alonso now takes the Dutch driver’s success for granted, deeming it “very deserved.” “They were by far the best team and the best driver. Whether it happens here or in Japan, we will see,” he added.
Alongside the merits for Max and his Red Bull, however, the Alpine driver wanted to emphasize Ferrari’s competitiveness: “Ferrari had a very fast car, but Red Bull and Max were excellent. Maybe there was no real fight, because they were better than the others, but it’s not like they had a superior car. Ferrari is at the same level or even better.”
