Universiade, bronze medal for Italvolley

Italy ends Universiade 2025 in third place. DT Vincenzo Fanizza’s Azzurri, involved in the FISU World University Games Summer in Berlin, Germany, beat Japan by a score of 3-1 (34-32, 25-19, 23-25, 25-16) in the 3rd-4th place final. Top scorer of the match was Japan’s Fujiwara with 23 points scored followed by Italy’s Sani with 21.
Positive final balance in this event for the Azzurri, who found three victories in as many matches in the group (against South Korea, Germany and the United States), the quarterfinal victory against the Czech Republic and today’s victory over Japan; the only blemish in this path was the semifinal in which the Azzurri had to surrender at the tie-break to the Brazilian Seleçao.
For Italy it is the third consecutive medal in this tournament, after the two golds won in Naples in 2019 and in Chengdu in 2023 (2021 edition postponed due to COVID in ’23).
