Reyer Venezia, RJ Cole and Leonardo Candi point to the group

Day of presentations in the Reyer Venezia house. At the press room of Palasport Taliercio the two new outfielders of the orogranata team – RJ Cole and Leonardo Candi – made their first statements.

“Right from the start, even before we started training camp, I felt a great energy – began Cole -. Since I arrived, all the people I have met have conveyed enthusiasm and great professionalism. This has made my adjustment to the new club easier and less stressful. This eagerness to be together that is in the group and in the whole organization makes us work better and I believe it will help us throughout the preseason. I am thankful to be here”.

He was echoed by Candi: “For now I can only say positive things. I continue along the lines of RJ: we are creating a good group and this is the most important thing at the start of the preparation. We are working very hard and I personally felt very good right away, starting with the company, the coaching staff and my teammates. They have welcomed me and my wife in a really egregious way and I am very happy to be here. I can&#8217t wait for the season to start”.

On role: “I definitely call myself a playmaker– said Cole -, because the thing I enjoy most on the court is getting my teammates involved. That said, I can score and I strive to be a very good defender” too.

“The role I like best is point guard– stressed Candi -, because I was born as such, but I think my ability to play multiple roles is a great advantage. During my career I have been able to carve out space and grow in other positions as well. I think it’s a strength of mine, a trait that can help the coach create different quintets and give more options in rotations. I am a player who always makes myself available for the good of the team”.

“We are a team to which the coach wants to give intensity and a high pace, and I think we have the characteristics to do that – added Candi. The coaching staff is working to create a system that allows each player to express their talents to the fullest. We are a group with very strong players, although we are not full yet and we will need time to get to know each other at our best. But we are on the right track and I am convinced that hard work always pays off in the end”.

“We have a very versatile team, with players who can play in different positions and bring different characteristics, personalities and skills– said Cole -. I think our team is complete. Obviously we are still working on getting to know each other, but we are doing it in the right direction. It is still too early to say how special this group can be until we have worked longer and are all together”.

Closing remarks on coach Neven Spahija: “I love the way he wants us to play – admitted Cole. I like the fact that it is a fast basketball, based on defense and physical and mental toughness. We have players who can play multiple positions and this style of play reminds me of an old high school coach of mine, so I know what to expect”.

“Definitely the’intensity, the physical toughness and the’aggressiveness– concludes Candi. It is a modern style of play, certainly not ‘old-fashioned’all’. These are the most important characteristics of the coach”s style.
