Wimbledon: Kyrgios, tantrum with chair judge and narrow victory
Nick Kyrgios continues to put on a show, for better or worse
Nick Kyrgios won in the first round of Wimbledon against Britain’s Paul Jubb, number 219 in the world rankings. It was a far from easy match for the Australian tennis player, who got nervous during the course of the match, first with the audience who sided with his opponent, then with the chair judge, who ended up in the crosshairs for some decisions.
After an unsupported call, Kyrgios lashed out, saying these words picked up by courtside microphones, “Why are you doing this? Not one person came today to see you do anything! Not a single person! Do you understand what I mean? I have fans, and she doesn’t have any! What have I done? You are the worst ever.”
Kyrgios finally won laboriously in five sets, with the scores of 6-3, 1-6, 5-7, 7-6, 5-7.
