Estra Pistoia welcomes Raffaele Marianella’s family: tribute before game against Fortitudo

In addition to the sporting value, the A2 Series match between Estra Pistoia and Fortitudo Bologna scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 2 at 8:45 p.m. at LumoSquare will be an’additional opportunity to remember the tragic events of the evening of Sunday, Oct. 19, which led to the death of Raffaele Marianella, one of the two drivers of the vehicle that was escorting back to Pistoia a group of fans traveling to Rieti.

The red and white club, in particular, chose to honor the memory of the unfortunate driver by inviting his family to the arena to show the closeness not only of the club, but also of the fans themselves. The family members will participate in a moment of remembrance together with President Joseph David and Sebastiani Rieti patron Roberto Pietropaoli.

In the days following the tragedy, Estra Pistoia Basket had immediately set off initiatives in support of Raffaele Marianella’s family, and likewise the basketball world, starting with FIP president Gianni Petrucci, in addition to stigmatizing the violence in the sport of some troublemakers had shown closeness to those affected by the serious episode.

The match between Estra Pistoia and Fortitudo Bologna is valid for the ninth day of the Italian Serie A2 basketball championship.The red and white team and Effe, with ten points apiece, are part of the large group of teams in second place along with Libertas Livorno, Sebastiani Rieti, Rimini and Brindisi, behind the leaders Verona and Pesaro.
