Napoli market, two names are back in the news: the club’s move ahead of winter

These are complicated days for Napoli, which in addition to the difficulties related to injuries and the fluctuating results of the’last period (despite the good position in the standings the victory is missing since last October 28), must reckon with an environment shaken by the words of Antonio Conte after the knockout with Bologna on Sunday afternoon.
“Something has to be done, because I do not feel like accompanying a dead man” had declared the Salento coach on the sidelines of the match lost at the Dall’Ara: very harsh words, aimed at stimulating an internal reflection within the’environment. The Azzurri leadership, in this sense, is ready for a new turnaround at the market level, dusting off the names of two players in the past already mentioned to Napoli itself: Kobbie Mainoo and Lorenzo Pellegrini.
After probing the ground last summer, Napoli had then given up on Mainoo, on the strength of a midfield full of alternatives between Lobotka, Anguissa and De Bruyne. The latter, however, will be out until at least March if not beyond, and the Cameroonian will most likely be out of the picture between December and January, when his national team plays the African Cup of Nations in Morocco. Thus, the name of the Manchester United midfielder, who is finding little space this season and could be thinking of going the same route as Scott McTominay (according to ‘The Sun’ it was the Scot himself who suggested the market move) to revive himself.
Pellegrini, for his part, remains open to any possibility given the initial rumblings with Gian Piero Gasperini, although the Roma coach has left him on the bench for the full ninety minutes on just two occasions since October, against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League and against Parma in the league. The coming weeks will be decisive to see if the deal blown up a few months ago can materialize in January.
