Milan-Novara, the audience record in women’s volleyball is near

Over eleven thousand tickets sold on the eve of the match-event between Numia Vero Volley Milan and Igor Gorgonzola Novara. The countdown to the record number of spectators in a women’s volleyball match has begun: the goal is to detach 12,627 coupons for the match to be played tomorrow at the Unipol Forum in Assago, with kickoff whistle at 8:30 p.m., broadcast live on Rai Sport and VBTV, the official online streaming platform of Volleyball World.
Also at 6 p.m. tomorrow, the gates will also open to allow regular access to the public, who will be able to entertain themselves with several scheduled initiatives, including a performance by young singer-songwriter Sangiovanni. The 22-year-old artist found popularity with his participation in the 20th edition of Maria de Filippi’s Amici, the talent show in which he won the singing category. He boasts two appearances at the Sanremo Festival and several certifications, including gold and platinum records. In 2025 he ranked 10th among the most successful artists in the FIMI (Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana) era with Sanremo singles. At the Unipol Forum he will perform some of his hit songs, accompanying all fans towards the entrance of the teams on the field.
The match valid for the tenth day of the Regular Season, therefore, will have a much broader meaning and encapsulated in the claim “2GETHER.” Thanks to the initiatives proposed and developed by Numia Vero Volley Milano and Igor Gorgonzola Novara, the audience will be able to enjoy a 360° experience, both in terms of sports and entertainment. The match-event aims to further enhance the sport, which is living a golden moment thanks also to the recent successes of the Italian national team. Several Numia Vero Volleyball players are part of the “azzurro” group that graduated World Champions in the summer: Paola Egonu, Anna Danesi, Eleonora Fersino and Benedetta Sartori. The numbers testify to the explosion of tricolor volleyball: in 2024, with 356,759 members, volleyball became the fourth most played sport in Italy. An increase of more than 61,000 compared to the pre-Covid period, and 6.1 percent compared to 2023. Specifically for the female sector, female athletes between the ages of 6 and 16 rose to 188,475, up more than 2,700; male participation also increased, with 48,130 boys between the ages of 6 and 15, more than 1,500 more than the previous year. A demonstration of how volleyball has become a social phenomenon, even before sports.
