The skeleton World Cup opened the Olympic track in Cortina d'Ampezzo

The skeleton World Cup officially opened the new bobsled track in Cortina today with the men’s race.
The Ampezzo town, which will host the Winter Games with Milan in just under three months, returned to host a Cup race 18 years after the last such event.
An excellent test for the new facility dedicated to Eugenio Monti, the most controversial in the march towards the Olympics, precisely in view of the competitions (bobsleigh, luge and skeleton) that will take place there during the five-circle event.
To win the opening leg the eve favorite, Britain’s Matt Weston, who, holder of the trophy, won the first seasonal round of the top circuit, ahead of Austria’s Samuel Maier. Third was China’s Zheng Yin.
17th place for Italy’s Mattia Gasperi, 19th and 21st respectively for Amedeo Bagnis and Giovanni Marchetti.
