The skeleton World Cup officially opened the new bobsled track in Cortina today with the men’s race.

The Ampezzo town, which will host the Winter Games with Milan in just under three months, returned to host a Cup race 18 years after the last such event.

An excellent test for the new facility dedicated to Eugenio Monti, the most controversial in the march towards the Olympics, precisely in view of the competitions (bobsleigh, luge and skeleton) that will take place there during the five-circle event.

To win the opening leg the eve favorite, Britain&#8217s Matt Weston, who, holder of the trophy, won the first seasonal round of the top circuit, ahead of Austria&#8217s Samuel Maier. Third was China&#8217s Zheng Yin.

17th place for Italy&#8217s Mattia Gasperi, 19th and 21st respectively for Amedeo Bagnis and Giovanni Marchetti.
