Napoli, Milan, Bologna and Inter Milan are ready: the 2025 edition of the Italian Super Cup, the 38th ever and the third to see the Final Four format, will kick off on Thursday, December 18, with the first of two semifinals. It will be played for the fourth consecutive year (and sixth overall) in Saudi Arabia, with King Sa’ud University Stadium in Riyadh confirmed for the third edition in a row as the venue for the event. In the first of the two semifinals, which will be played at 8 p.m. Italian time (10 p.m. local time), reigning Italian champions Napoli will cross arms with Milan, the defeated finalist in the 2024-2025 Coppa Italia: the partenopei are looking for their third Super Cup victory after those of 1990 (5-1 to Juventus) and 2014 (5-4 victory on penalties after a 2-2 draw after extra time).

Milan Milan, on the other hand, will try to confirm the title they won last year by beating Inter in the final with a sensational comeback from 0-2 to 3-2, which ended with Tammy Abraham’s (now at Besiktas, Turkey) goal beyond 90′. The Rossoneri have won the Super Cup on seven other occasions, winning in 1988, consecutively from 1992 to 1994, 2004, 2011 and 2016. The second semifinal, on the other hand, is between Bologna, holders of the Coppa Italia, and Inter, last year’s league runners-up: kickoff is also scheduled for 8 p.m. Italian time on Friday, Dec. 19, with the Felsinians in their first ever participation in the competition.

The Supercoppa will be played by the Italian team.

For Inter, on the other hand, it will be the 14th appearance in the Super Cup: eight Nerazzurri victories (1989, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2021, 2022 and 2023), with the last success coming on Jan. 22, 2024, beating Napoli in the final act of the first ever Final Four with a score of 1-0 thanks to Lautaro Martinez′ s goal at 91′. The final of the 2025 edition will be played, again at the King Sa’ud University Stadium in Riyadh, on Monday, Dec. 22, again when it will be 8 p.m. in Italy.

In all three matches there will be no extra time: in case of a draw it will go directly to penalty kicks.

If either Inter or Milan win, the Nerazzurri or Rossoneri would become the most successful team in the Super Cup along with Juventus, with nine wins. Napoli, on the other hand, would detach Roma by moving to three (the Giallorossi have won twice), bringing them closer to Lazio&#8217s five wins.

If, on the other hand, Bologna were to emerge victorious, the Rossoblù would hook Sampdoria, Parma and Fiorentina, the only clubs to win the Supercoppa only once. Vincenzo Italiano’s team, should it win, would also match Milan, Inter, Napoli, Fiorentina and Lazio, winners of the Super Cup at the first attempt.
