Derby is by'Olimpia, Cantù knockout. Poeta: "Not a foregone victory"

L’Olimpia Milano won the derby against Cantù that opened the 12th day of the basketball championship. The meneghini won 94-89, clinching their third consecutive victory and momentarily moving up to third place in the standings with Venice. Cantù is third-to-last after its fifth consecutive loss. The top scorer of the match was Olimpia’s Nebo (22 points), for Milan good also Brooks with 16 points and 6 rebounds. For Cantù ok Bortolani with 21 points.
“It’s a win that was not a foregone conclusion – are the words of Milan coach Peppe Poeta -. I am very happy because it was the fifth game in nine days and energy was at a low point. We played a very good game in offense, in defense we can do better, but we can be more cynical, like when we took a good lead”.
Nebo has taken the team by the hand: “Our guards are finding more and more connection with him and on pick and rolls he gives us important gravity. Of note are the 22 assists, mostly from the outside, who have been good at activating him in dynamic situations, where he is most dangerous”.
Congratulations to Cantù: “A team that always struggled, I’expected that. With the addition of Green it has so much potential in the outfield, a solid Italian package”.
