Massimo Eccheli reveals what has changed in his True Volleyball Monza

Twelve points at the end of the first half of the season, the result of four victories, three of which came in the last three rounds of the championship; eighth place in the standings at the halfway mark of the SuperLega and qualification obtained for the Quarterfinals of the Del Monte Coppa Italia. This is the balance of Vero Volley Monza after the first part of the 2025-2026 season. Over the weekend just past, the Brianza lineup did not take the court, having anticipated in recent weeks the championship round against Sir Susa Scai Perugia, which, yesterday, triumphed in the World Club Championship. Captain Thomas Beretta and his teammates are projected to the last two matches of 2025, both with Itas Trentino, which could give an additional boost to the team led by coach Massimo Eccheli. They will play against the Trentino team on Dec. 26 at the Opiquad Arena in Monza for the second day back of the championship. Three days later, on the 29th, Vero Volley Monza will pay a visit to Itas in the match that puts the Italian Cup Final Four up for grabs.

“Playing two close matches against the same team, it will be a play-off format moment – comments coach Massimo Eccheli. “In addition to physical fitness, aspects related to tactics will be important, to try to understand what can be done differently between one and the other match.”

Vero Volley Monza comes to this double date with high morale after winning seven of the nine points available in the last three rounds of the championship played, “What has changed in the last few weeks? Nothing in particular, except that we have been able to give more continuity to the work,” explains the Brianzoli’s coach.

“We have recovered some players who were not at their best physically. Several guys are back from a summer with their respective national teams and ours, being a new team, needed to find balance by working and getting to know each other.”

At the conclusion of the first half of the season, it is possible to draw an initial balance: “The priority must be to achieve salvation and right now we are aligned with our goal – highlights Eccheli -. To have finished in the top eight after the first part of the championship is a source of pride because it guarantees us participation in the Quarterfinals of the Italian Cup, which for a young team like ours represents an opportunity to gain further experience. It will also be useful for the second part of the season.”
