We will inform as soon as possible about the solution for the succession” reads the note issued by the club from German-speaking Switzerland.

“In the weeks and months leading up to the winter break, we had the feeling that our performance was stagnant and that we were no longer able to express on the pitch the continuity needed to achieve our ambitious goals– added Sporting Director Daniel Stucki.”

The first three matches of the new year, including the home draw against FC Sion, and especially the poor performance away to Salzburg, did not meet the expectations of the sporting management”.

“Thus, the hoped-for turnaround did not occur, despite good preparation– therefore, the manager stressed -. At present we can still achieve some of our goals. That is why we decided to take this step, which was by no means easy for us”.

Ludovic Magnin took it all in all with fair-play. “I would like to thank the club from the bottom of my heart for these six months, which, despite everything, have been wonderful. I was able to touch with my own hands how much this club means to the city and to the people and, of course, the farewell is not easy for me. I wish the team, the staff and the entire club all the best for the continuation of the season and thank all those who supported me during my time at Basel”.
