L’Umana Reyer Venezia prepares to welcome Cedevita Olimpija Lubiana for a crucial match in view of the playoffs, valid for Round 16 of BKT Eurocup. In the first game, the Slovenians imposed themselves with a heavy 93-65 and the orogranata are called to redemption also to consolidate their ranking, which currently sees them in fifth place, fighting for a favorable placement in the playoff grid.

The following are the words of coach Neven Spahija: “A very complicated game awaits us against Cedevita Olimpia Ljubljana, a team that plays well and has won several games in the last period, just like us. If we exclude the Hamburg match, which I consider an accident of the road where we showed up in really difficult conditions, our path has been positive. Now we must focus totally on the challenge against Olimpia, where there will be no shortage of difficulties: we have a tough period ahead of us, but we will take the court to fight with the players we have at our disposal, always maintaining a positive attitude”.

“I want to make it clear that the team does not have any energy problems. We have been playing at a very high level lately: a team capable of expressing those 20 quality minutes seen in Varese does not forget how to play basketball two days later. You have to look at the big picture: all the previous games give us the true picture of the value of this group”.

Leonardo Candi echoed his coach: “We have a challenge ahead of us against a very strong team. We know that Ljubljana is a difficult opponent to face and we remember well how the first game went: precisely for this reason, at home, we want to redeem ourselves and we will do everything to bring home the victory. We come from a game in which we did not offer an exciting performance, but we must remain united and compact, continuing to do what good we have built so far”.

“We play at Taliercio: with the’help of our crowd we will try to set the right tone for the match right away, imposing our pace and forcing Ljubljana to play outside its comfort zone”.
