The first real chance of the match is for Sweden in the 8th minute, when Sara Hjalmarsson tries to unlock the result but finds a prompt response from Martina Fedel. Italy tries to reply, but without creating any real danger. Italy tried to react, but at 31:47 the third Swedish goal also arrived, signed by Hjalmarsson on Karlsson’s assist. The azzurre manage to unlock at 33:30 thanks to Franziska Stocker, who scores from the central position and shortens the distance. Sweden’s response was immediate: after just 69 seconds Hanna Olsson made it 4-1 on passes from Linnea Andersson and Thea Johansson. In the final period Italy has a power play at its disposal, but fails to exploit it. It goes to the second intermission on the score of 4-1.

In the third drittel Italy tries to increase the intensity, but it is still Sweden that strikes. At 46:53 Johansson brings the score to 5-1, taking advantage of a mistake by the Italian defense and an assist from Lina Ljungblom. At that point Italy changes in goal: Fedel gives way to Gabriella Durante. At 54:32 the sixth Swedish goal also arrived, again with Johansson, served by Olsson and Svensson. For Italy, the next engagement is set for Monday, February 9, at 12:10 p.m. against Japan.
