Monday’s Serie A closes in the sign of Roma, which beats Cagliari 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico and hooks Juventus in fourth place on 46 points. Gasperini’s team approached the match with great aggression from the first minutes, immediately putting the Sardinians under pressure with initiatives from Malen and N’Dicka. In the 16th minute, Caprile risked a resounding own goal: the Cagliari goalkeeper missed his clearance but managed to make up for it before the ball crossed the line. Soon after, it was Pisilli who committed him, but in the 25th minute he had to surrender to the touch of Malen, who attacked the depth on Mancini’s throw and signed the 1-0 with a soft spoon from a deflected position, finding his first goal at the Olimpico.

In the second half, Gasperini also gave space to new signing Zaragoza but the doubling still came with Malen in the 65th minute: Celik broke through in the box and served the former Aston Villa man, who pushed the 2-0 into the net. Cagliari tried to react: in the 79th minute Sulemana hit the crossbar with a powerful right-footer from the distance, while in the 83rd minute Dossena did not frame the goal from a few steps on the development of a free kick. Nothing more happened in the final and Roma regained success after two rounds, interrupting Cagliari’s positive streak at three games, stuck at 28 points.

The presence of Francesco Totti, for whom there is talk of a possible return to the Giallorossi, as a manager, did not go unnoticed in the stands. Frederic Massara spoke about this and more in the pre-match, focusing first on the renewals of Dybala, El Shaarawy, Celik and Pellegrini. “This is the moment of decisions, we have maintained a relationship with the players’ agents and we will understand if there will be the basis to continue with them. I emphasize that the players in question have never lacked in’attachment and professionalism”.

Inevitable, however, is the question about the’former captain: “He is the history of this club, with the Friedkins he has a very good relationship and they will know when it is appropriate to actually leave with Francis in the company”.
