For me, however, this is a special moment: I have been through quite a lot and everything about last year is now behind me. During the winter I spent a lot of time rebuilding myself, refocusing, getting my body and mind back in a much better condition. In general, I made sure that I arrived here feeling better”.

“Personally, I haven–t felt this good for a very long time,– the Englishman later admitted – also thanks to a reorganization within my work team. And then there is the car: we are off to a pretty good start. It is also an exciting time for this new generation of cars, because everything is completely new and we are trying to figure it out as we go”.

“Last year I was racing with a car that I simply inherited; this, on the other hand, is a car that I have been involved in the development of in the simulator for the last eight to 10 months. So there is a bit of my DNA in it, and I definitely feel more connected to this one” Lewis explained.

“My confidence in the team is absolutely the same. I have 100 percent confidence in this team and what it is capable of, which is why I decided to join them. I knew it wasn’t going to be instant success overnight-that’s why I signed a longer contract, because I knew that, in most cases, it’s a process. I think as a team we have learned a lot from last year and changes have been made. Everyone has a great desire to improve and do better, so I think we are working together better than ever. And that excites me” Hamilton concluded.
