Giovanni Malagò promises a great Paralympics

During the ’event “Passion Without Limits – Allianz and the Paralympic Journey” Giovanni Malagò, president of the Organizing Committee of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games spoke: “We are very happy, we are very tired especially because we finished late last night however when things went very well, particularly well, it is clear that you do not feel the sense of tiredness. I am also very happy to be here. I have spent so many days of my life in these offices in the last 5/6 years. I really felt at home here all the time, and it is not a commercial: in my cell phone I have my ID card and the card to enter Allianz”.
“I think that one can organize the best Olympics possible and imaginable – added the’former CONI president -, and so it seems that our work is recognized, however, there are two elements that are equally indispensable to complete not only the path, not only the judgment, but what is obviously the legacy, also the material, that is, the memory, the’legacy that we leave to ourselves, and especially to the new generations”.
“The first one is that precisely the Italian team had to make some important achievements and it went very very well in that sense. Now there’s another important link, however,– he then stressed -: we cannot afford to have organized great Olympics without organizing great Paralympics. It is an institutional duty, it is our mission, our corporate purpose, our charter”.
“When the famous HCC (Host City Contract) was signed, which in our case was a little bit’ articulated – two cities, two regions, two provinces, various situations on the side -, we committed ourselves to be the organizing committee for the Olympics and the Paralympics. And at the same time we have also, although in a contained way, identified, a master plan always with this widespread, although more marginal, concept. Of course we have Milan, we have Tesero and we have Cortina”.
“We were very interested, to give a first fundamental message to the Paralympic world, to the media and to the companies that invest, that there should be a very strong link. The first link is Verona, the oldest arena in the world where there have also been major sporting events, where the Olympics closed and the Paralympics will open. And the second issue precisely are these venues, starting with Santa Giulia, which will be protagonists of the Paralympic world” concluded Malagò.
