D'Aversa-Torino, this is it: Baroni toward exoneration

Hot hours in the Torino household. The heavy defeat against Genoa on Sunday is likely to cost Marco Baroni dearly. According to reports from Sky Sport, in fact, the granata coach is one step away from being fired. The seven knockouts collected in the last ten matches, also considering the Coppa Italia, have spatiated the Piedmontese club, which so far had always defended Baroni but now seems willing to change.

The Granata management has reportedly identified Roberto D’Aversa as the ideal replacement for Marco Baroni. Toro and l’former Empoli and Lecce coach would have already found an agreement in principle: only a few details remain to be filed but the deal could go through in the next few hours. D’Aversa, in fact, is expected in Turin as early as today and is expected to sign a contract until the end of the season.

The landing of D’Aversa at Torino would entail a return to the Granata: D’Aversa’s deputy, in fact, is Salvatore Sullo, who has already spent five seasons on the Piedmontese club’s bench, from 2011 to 2016, always in the role of assistant coach to Gian Piero Ventura.

After the defeat to Genoa, Torino, 15th in the standings with 27 points paired right with the Grifone, has only a six-point lead over the relegation zone. On the next day of Serie A, the granata will take on Lazio all’Olimpico Grande Torino on Sunday, March 1 at 6 p.m.
